UNA-UK announces report on International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers 16th Annual Conference

UNA-UK's Peacekeeper's Day took place on 23 May 2018, in partnership with UNA Westminster and the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI). The event involved a conference held with UN practitioners and diplomats and a memorial ceremony to commemorate those lost in the service of peacekeeping.

RUSI have now published a report on the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers 16th Annual Conference, available here. The Conference report gives an overview of the points raised by each speaker, including a summary of the discussions. The keynote speech was given by Ian Martin, former Special Representative and Head of the United Nations mission in three countries. His speech is included in full. Tessy Antony, Princess of Luxembourg, UNA-UK patron and former peacekeeper, gave a final speech at Peacekeeper's Day. You can read her final remarks here

A video of the keynote speaker and opening speeches has also been published on RUSI's website. The keynote can be viewed here.

Our Peacekeeper's Day is the largest such event of its kind, and the largest memorial for peacekeepers in Europe. It is the only annual policy discussion of peacekeeping in the United Kingdom. Please click here to find out more about the day.

UNA-UK would like to thank  our speakers and patron, RUSI and UNA Westminster for their collaboration on this year's Peacekeeper's Day event as well as the Dutch Embassy and the Canadian High Commission for helping host the event.
