In this period of uncertainty, UNA-UK urges people to join its global movement

President Trump is yet to set out a clear policy for engagement with the United Nations, and questions remain unanswered about the direction of US foreign policy. In this period of global uncertainty, UNA-UK urges people across the country to join them in advocating for international cooperation.

UNA-UK has expressed concern about certain indications that Mr Trump has given about America's future relationship with the UN, notably his promise “cancel” the Paris Agreement on climate change, and his comment that:

We get nothing out of the United Nations. They don’t respect us, they don’t do what we want, and yet we fund them disproportionately

UNA-UK hopes that the United States will remain engaged with the United Nations and take seriously its international responsibilities. But American politics isn’t the only area where the future remains open to speculation.

In Europe, it is difficult to predict the result of the forthcoming national elections - notably in France, Germany and the Netherlands - where far-right political parties advocating for increased isolationsim are gaining popular support. Meanwhile in the UK, the Government has shed light on its plans for Britain's exit from the EU, but a question mark remains over how the UK will redefine its place on the world stage.

Amid this period of uncertainty, the one thing that UNA-UK can be certain about is that is the world works best when countries work together.

Will you join us?

UNA-UK is calling on everyone who fears our international institutions like the UN are being misunderstood, attacked and forgotten to join our movement.
