Trustee 2018 (Voluntary Role)

TRUSTEES RECRUITMENT
The UNA-UK Board is searching for trustees who can help the charity improve its ability to respond to the challenging funding environment in an increasingly unpredictable global context. Trustees are looking to ensure that the Board has the skills, experience, contacts and diversity needed to sustain UNA-UK.

ROLE DESCRIPTION
The Trustee will work in partnership with the Chair, Executive Director and UNA-UK’s small, dynamic team to help achieve the aims of the charity. At present, the Board is particularly keen to appoint trustees who can provide guidance and, where appropriate, hands on support in one or more of the following areas:

  • Fundraising, in particular corporate, government or philanthropic – our top priority

  • Media/PR to reach wider audiences and maximise UNA-UK’s global impact

  • Legal/HR/finance to ensure best practice and good governance

All trustees are also tasked with promoting and strengthening the reputation and impact of UNA-UK. They are expected to represent the charity externally, to raise our profile and help build relationships with key stakeholders. Trustees also provide strategic direction for the charity and ensure that appropriate financial and legal checks and balances are in place.

This is a voluntary (unremunerated) position.  The initial term of appointment will be three years, with the possibility of reappointment for up to one further term of three years.

UNA-UK strongly encourages candidates from all backgrounds to apply. At present, the Board is particularly keen to receive applications from women and ethnic minorities.

TO APPLY:

  1. Read carefully the Trustee information pack
  2. Read carefully the eligibility criteria (see information pack)
  3. Complete and return the application form and the required supporting documents to:

Angie Pankhania, UNA-UK Company Secretary, on jobs@una.org.uk or by post to 3 Whitehall Court, London SW1A 2EL. Documents must be received by 10am on Friday 24 August 2018.

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted to arrange an interview between 10 and 13 September 2018.

Successful candidates will be appointed by the Board at its meeting on 19 September 2018 and invited to attend their first Board meeting 2-5pm on Wednesday 12 December 2018.
