UNA-UK co-signs civil society letter on Human Rights Act

For Human Rights Day 2012, United Nations Association - UK (UNA-UK) joined 72 NGOs and civil society groups in co-signing a letter to the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister.

The letter calls on the Government to commit to championing human rights both at home and abroad, including by preserving the Human Rights Act which protects the fundamental rights of people in the UK and allows them to engage directly with public bodies on these issues.

UNA-UK joined representatives of these groups and Sadiq Khan MP, the Shadow Justice Secretary, at a photo call in Parliament Square to demonstrate support for securing human rights.
