UN Forum 2010 - UNA-UK's mass civil society conference on the UN and its work - was our flagship event of the year.
Held under the banner of 'A more effective UN for a more secure and just world', UN Forum 2010 saw 1,400 gather in London to debate the UN's role in peace and security, human rights and humanitarian action, sustainable development, and gender with experts including:
- Helen Clark, head of the UN Development Programme
- Mary Robinson, former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights
- Dr Hans Blix, former Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency
This short film, released today, features highlights from the Forum's main sessions, as well as informal contributions by speakers and participants filmed throughout the day.
At the Forum, speakers and participants made many recommendations for actions to be taken by the UK government, the international community and civil society to further the UN's goal of peace, development and human rights for all. Since June, major developments such as the UN's climate change conference in Mexico, the high-level summit on the UN Millennium Development Goals and NATO's security summit have taken place. By releasing this film, we want to assess how much progress has been made in the last six months towards resolving the issues discussed at UN Forum.
