UNA-UK's Chairman, Lord Wood of Anfield, released the following reaction to President Trump's announcement to withdraw from the Iran deal:

“UNA-UK deeply regrets the reckless and ill-justified announcement by President Trump of his intention to withdraw the US from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) or ‘Iran deal’. The USA’s disregard for the JCPOA, despite repeated confirmation from the IAEA inspectors that Iran is complying with its commitments, risks seriously escalating tensions across the Middle East.  It also threatens to initiate an arms race in the region that threatens not only regional but wider international security.  We urge all other parties to the JCPOA to stand by their international commitments, and uphold an agreement that offers the best chance for ensuring Iran is held to its nuclear-related commitments”.
