Increase your awareness of the plight of sexual violence

During the run up to International Women’s Day (8 March) and the 57th Commission on the Status of Women (4 - 15 March) UNA-UK is asking its members and supporters to test their knowledge of one of the most severe gender issues facing the world today: sexual violence in conflict.

The aim of this action is to raise awareness of the extent of what the UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Sexual Violence in Conflict calls ‘history’s greatest silence’, and to highlight what is being done to combat these crimes.

This initiative fits in to UNA-UK's wider programme of work on gender issues.  UNA-UK's Women’s Advisory Council will be represented at this year's Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) of which the priority theme will be the elimination and prevention of all forms of violence against women and girls.
