The University of Plymouth United Nations Association is planning a trip to Geneva for the 11th-15th of February. The total cost is £189 to be paid by the 17th (ish) of January which is an absolute bargain as for a weekend in Geneva normally you’re looking at at least £300. This cost will include your travel by coach and ferry to and from Geneva. As we're going in Feb the trip down through France will be stunning and hopefully a bit snowy! The cost also covers B&B accommodation in the city, as well as all your transport by ferry, tram and bus. These go out for about 35 mins in each direction, so places like CERN (If you want to go to the vistor centre, which is a bit like @Bristol) this is in reach too for free!

This trip is open to anybody, regardless of whether you’re a member of the UN Association. So feel free to bring friends, housemates, other halves, invisible friends... It will prove beneficial for IR students also as I know from past experience of visiting, you get a lot of free handouts. Especially from the UNHCR, as well as some useful contacts. So for those of you studying or aiming to study Refugee Studies, it is especially helpful!!

If you want to come and you don’t wish to go to the UN, you’re more than welcome to go off and do your own thing in Geneva, Mont Blanc is only a few km away, and the lake and old town of Geneva are beautiful. (shops aren’t bad either, ladies)

As well as this you get a heavily discounted tour of the Palais des Nations (United Nations Offices and League of Nations Buildings) which we're getting for 10CHF instead of the normal cost.

On the Wednesday we will be sitting in on a couple of United Nations public sessions as well! So you can all get an idea of how the UN works and operates and I have spoken to a UoP Graduate who now works for the UN Information Service in Geneva, who has offered to put on a programme for those of you who do want to go further into the work of the UN and get a lot more info on it. As well as this, we will have a talk from someone at the UNHCR (UN High Commission for Refugees) and potentially a talk from some other organisations

If you fancy this once in a (university) lifetime trip, then sign up here!

Bear in mind those of you not from Plymouth, you may have to get to Plymouth or possibly Dover.
