Guest Speaker: Mr Aaditya Dave
Research Analyst in
International Security Studies
At the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), London.

The local UN Association are delighted to announce that Aaditya Dave has accepted an invitation to come and address our Branch meeting. The recent move by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi`s government to extinguish Jammu and Kashmir autonomy may play well with the voters in India but is unlikely to improve regional security. India and Pakistan have fought three wars over the territory, and the dispute over Jammu and Kashmir has been on the UN Agenda since 1948 with the Security Council adopting numerous resolutions concerning the issue..

Aaditya will focus on the historical background to the Jammu and Kashmir problem and how it has affected relations between India and Pakistan over the past seventy years. He will also address how the Jammu and Kashmir issue has affected the geopolitical behaviour of key geopolitical actors like the US, China and Russia.

Aadityas` research interests include South Asian foreign policy, regional security and strategic dynamics, Chinese engagement with South Asia and conflict resolution and reconciliation.

Prior to joining RUSI, Aaditya worked using open-source intelligence to identify specific hotspots for militant activity in South Asia for both private and public sector clients. He has completed an MA in Conflict, Security and Development from King’s College London, where his dissertation examined the Indian government’s response to the Maoist insurgency in Central India.

There will be Ploughman`s Lunch and coffee/tea (£3.50 per head) from 12:00 pm till 2:15 pm and the meeting starts at 12:30 prompt.
Please do come along and bring a friend!
