Guest Speaker: Dr Adrian Campbell, Senior Lecturer,  Department of International Studies University of Birmingham.  The vote to leave the European Union in June leaves the UK on the front line of some of the biggest political issues of our time. The much-ballyhooed British exit (Brexit) from the 28-member European Union (EU) is likely to have much political ramifications on its foreign policy on international relations at the United Nations, G20 and G7 – both in the short and the long term.  Will the UK be more capable on its own in tackling environmental damage and climate change, in ensuring energy security, tackling cross-border crime and terrorism, and ensuring stability in its immediate neighbourhood? International cooperation will be essential in resolving them all.  Still, will Brexit make any significant difference to the UK at the UN and its powerful position and its seat on the UN Security Council? Dr Adrian Campbell will address the local UN Association and provide an independent platform for debate and analysis around the issues raised by the vote and their international implications for the UK on the world stage. Please do come along and bring a friend and contribute to this very important debate. Usual Ploughman`s Lunch and coffee/tea £3.50 per head
