UNA Twickenham & Richmond: The Legacy of the World Humanitarian Summit: What next for the Grand Bargain and the global response to humanitarian emergencies?

Martin Barber and Sara Pantuliano gave a presentation on the WHS . More than 8,000 people attended the WHS in Istanbul in May 2016. Among the commitments made at the summit was a Grand Bargain between major donor governments and the UN agencies and international NGOs. Sara Pantuliano and Martin Barber outlined its message: "5 CORE RESPONSIBILITIES, 24 TRANSFORMATIONS"; the responsibilities were: 1) Political leadership to prevent and end conflicts

2) Upholding the norms to safeguard humanity

3) Leaving no one behind

4) Changing people's live, from delivering aid to ending need

5) Investing in Humanity

The speakers then discussed the impact of the Summit and the Grand Bargain on humanitarian action and the prospects for reforms.
