Who are we?
The Young Professionals Network (YPN) brings together a diverse mix of young professionals who support a strong role for the UN in international affairs. The network provides opportunities for like-minded individuals to meet each other and to engage with politicians, academics, people who work in NGOs and influential members of the business community.
The network is administered by a co-ordinator based at the United Nations Association of the UK (UNA-UK), our parent organisation.
Who can join?
Participation in YPN is targeted mainly at professionals in their 20s and 30s, although we strive to be an inclusive network and thus welcome like-minded individuals who have an interest in peace, justice and sustainable development.
The only criteria for membership is that you are a young professional who shares our aspirations, and that you sign up to our mailing list! We will then keep you updated on our activities.
What do we do?
YPN organises events and provides opportunities to network with peers and NGO, government and business leaders. Network members are invited to:
- Attend exclusive events and seminars featuring high-level speakers from the United Nations, and expert practitioners from government, business and the NGO community
- Attend social events that offer the opportunity to meet and network with like-minded young professionals and NGO, public and private sector leaders
- Access information and advice on careers in the UN system and other organisations, as well as details of jobs, training and internship opportunities
- Keep up-to-date with details of a range of forthcoming public events in the London area
- Publicise your organisation's events and career opportunities among fellow members, and submit articles for possible publication on the YPN website
What is UNA-UK?
The YPN is an initiative of the United Nations Association of the UK (UNA-UK). UNA-UK is the UK's leading independent policy authority on the United Nations and a UK-wide membership organisation encompassing individuals of diverse ages, backgrounds and interests.
Through the work of its staff, volunteers and members, UNA-UK campaigns and educates to promote the principles of the UN Charter and to support the work of the UN and its agencies.
How can I join UNA-UK?
Members of YPN are encouraged to join UNA-UK as it secures them priority attendance to all YPN events. In addition, all members:
- receive a copy of New World, the flagship quarterly magazine, as well as other briefings and publications
- receive invitations to UNA-UK branch, regional and national events
- can get involved in and support UNA-UK's many other activities
