What is UNA-UK?
UNA-UK is the UK's leading source of independent information and analysis on UN issues and a UK-wide grassroots movement for the UN.

UNA-UK is committed to a strong, credible and effective UN at the centre of an international system governed by multilateralism and the rule of law. We believe that a strengthened UN is in the UK's national interest, and we strive to promote consistent and constructive government support for the UN and its work.

News and action points
'Lobby for the UN' 2009-10
'Lobby for the UN', UNA-UK’s year-long campaign to promote parliamentary engagement with UN issues, was launched on 27 October. After an overview by UNA-UK's Chair Lord Hannay, disarmament expert Dr Nick Ritchie and Ashok Sinha, Director of Stop Climate Chaos, gave presentations at the launch event on nuclear non-proliferation and climate change - the lobby's twin goals this year.

We hope that members will use our lobby briefing papers to push for action on these issues throughout the parliamentary year.

UK no longer 'safe haven' for genocide suspects
A series of government amendments to the Coroners and Justice Bill will close a loophole in UK legislation which has hitherto allowed those suspected of genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes to escape being brought to justice.

The amendments have come after sustained pressure by a cross-party group of back bench peers, which included UNA-UK Chair Lord Hannay of Chiswick, and organisations such as UNA-UK, the Aegis Trust and REDRESS.
