CONFERENCE, 2 DECEMBER 2006, CARDIFF
Multilateral approaches to nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament: The NPT and contemporary threats

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

On 2 December 2006, UNA-UK held a conference on nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament at the Temple of Peace, Cardiff, in partnership with UNA Wales and the David Davies Memorial Institute of International Studies at the Department of International Politics, University of Wales, Aberystwyth. The event was one of the first major opportunities for the public to debate the future of Trident, the UK's nuclear-weapons system, just days after the government announced that a parliamentary vote will take place in early 2007.

The conference featured presentations from a number of the leading experts in the field. It also provided many opportunities for informed discussion between the panel and the audience of academics, students, parliamentarians, advocacy groups, journalists and members of the public.
