Released to coincide with UN Day (24 October), this double issue of New World includes both the Autumn 2013 and the Special Issue Winter 2013.

Both issues feature our UN Day 2013 campaign, which calls on readers to show their support for the United Nations.

The Autumn 2013 issue of New World seeks to scope out the future trends set to feature on the UN’s agenda in the coming years.

From internet governance to the successor to the Millennium Development Goals, our features explore what role the UN may play in shaping these issues.

As ever, news and views from UNA-UK and its members and supporters are also covered. This includes an article on UN peacekeeping from UNA-UK member Michael Harwood, and an interview with UNA-UK Young Professional, Camilla Born.

Whilst the Autumn issue explores emerging challenges, the Special Issue Winter 2013 of New World aims to offer fresh perspectives on those challenges which have long occupied the international community.

The issue features an article by International Development Secretary Justine Greening, on the post-2015 development agenda. This article appears as a foreword in UNA-UK's new major development publication, Global development goals: leaving no one behind.

With other articles focussing on issues such as nuclear disarmament and curbing climate change, Natalie Samarasinghe, UNA-UK’s Executive Director and Editor of this Special Issue, asks whether global solutions are still possible.
