On the final day of the UN's two-week Arms Trade Treaty negotiations, the Treaty adoption was blocked by last minute interventions from Iran, North Korea and Syria.

President of the Conference, Peter Woolcott, will report back to the General Assembly on Tuesday 2 April.

Looking forward, the overwhelming majority of states in favour of adopting an Arms Trade Treaty intend to take the Treaty to a vote at the UN General Assembly.

Then, agreement need not be constricted by consensus and the weight of the vast majority of states that want to secure a strong treaty would be felt. The vote is expected to take place on Tuesday 2 April.
