20 November - Take action on aid for children To mark Universal Children's Day, UNA-UK is calling on its 'Lobby for the UN' activists to urge the UK government to do more on aid for children. UNA-UK was delighted that the UK 'ring-fenced' its international development budget from spending cuts, and that it has promised to meet the UN-backed target of 0.7% of national income for international development by 2013. But the UK government could do even more by bringing in a financial transactions levy. UNA-UK was one of the first organisations to join the Robin Hood Tax Campaign because we believe that urgent action is needed if the world is to achieve the UN Millennium Development Goals by 2015. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

5 November - Join the Big Climate Connection As part of UNA-UK's 'Lobby for the UN' initiative, we are asking all our supporters to join the Big Climate Connection to push for action on UN Millennium Development Goal 7 on the environment. Starting this weekend, people from across the UK are joining the Stop Climate Chaos coalition - of which UNA-UK is a member - in lobbying their MPs to take action in the UK and internationally. Connect in your community... connect with your MP... connect the issues to stop climate chaos.

Our exciting new parliamentary campaign 'Lobby for the UN 2010-11' was launched on UN Day. The campaign aims to stimulate a genuine national debate on international issues, with a particular focus on our two policy priorities:
We need your help to demonstrate that a world without nuclear weapons, without poverty and inequality is in all our interests, and we need a strong, credible and effective UN to achieve this.
