Biography

Sir Jeremy has been Chairman of the UNA-UK Board of Directors since February 2011.

Jeremy was educated at Harrow School and Worcester College, Oxford.  From 1966 to 1969 he was an Assistant Master at Eton College.  He joined HM Diplomatic Service in 1969 and served until 2004. During this time, he served in the British embassies in Washington DC, Paris, Dubai and Saudi Arabia. He was British Ambassador to the United Nations for five years, from 1998 to 2003, attending over 150 meetings of the UN Security Council. From October 2001 to April 2003, he was Chairman of the Security Council's Counter-Terrorism Committee, and in 2003 he headed a Security Council mission to West Africa to assess the UN activities there, including the work of the UN Mission in Sierra Leone. From September 2003 to March 2004, Sir Jeremy served as the UK's Special Representative for Iraq. He was then Director of The Ditchley Foundation until August 2010 and a Special Adviser to BP plc from July 2004 to June 2010. Currently, he is also Chairman of Gatehouse Advisory Partners Ltd and of Lambert Energy Advisory Ltd.  He is an advisor to the International Rescue Committee-UK and to the NGO Forward Thinking, and a Non-Executive Director of De La Rue plc.

Stephen Harrow

Biography

Stephen has been Chair of the Management & Finance Committee of the UNA-UK since 2010 and, in that capacity, serves on the Board as Vice-Chair. He joined UNA as a schoolboy in 1964 and was for many years on the Committee of the then Croydon Branch.  He is now the Vice-Chairman of the Purley and Croydon Branch.

Stephen is a graduate and benefactor of the University of Exeter.  He is also an elected Associate and Fellow of King’s College London, where he formerly worked for many years in a variety of administrative capacities. Stephen is currently employed as the Clerk of the All Saints Educational Trust and is also a Trustee of the Strand Parishes Trust in Westminster.
