Stop the violence in Syria
As of June 2013, the crisis in Syria has left at least 93,000 dead and millions displaced. Escalating violence and a deepening humanitarian catastrophe show no signs of stopping, and have the potential to destabilise the surrounding region if allowed to continue.
Since the outbreak of the crisis, UNA-UK has been vocal in its support for the restoration of peace, security and human rights in Syria. UNA-UK has repeatedly expressed concern at the prospect of military intervention and has strongly advocated a political solution to the violence.
Currently UNA-UK is working with Oxfam International and others on a petition urging President Obama and President Putin to set a date for a peace conference in Geneva, and to do everything in their power to ensure that talks are successful in stopping the bloodshed.
